This is a copy of one of my girfriend’s blog’s postings, but it is a subject SO dear to my heart that I had to copy & paste it. She’s such an eloquent writer & wonderful person that I absolutely could NOT have said this ANY better. Please read on…..
“So Wrong We Are“
Realizing more and more how backwards America is. We have carriers for our babies in everything we do. We carry them around in plastic containers… into the grocery store in their little containers… they sleep in their cages… play in their playpens… have fun in their walkers or swings or jump-ups… eat in their high chairs… bathed in their boxes… and then back in their containers (car seat carriers). It’s sick. some of these things are fine as augmentations of mothering. But we’ve been left alone with our babies and other children. We have no loving aunts or grandmas or neighbors tending to us as we struggle to get through the day. Why don’t we hold our babies.Science has proven that touch-deprived infants are more likely to be aggressive. The power of touch goes far beyond this however… it’s an entire form of communication that empowers parents to create bridges of love with their children. I can’t even express what I’m trying to.Touch is vital.”
