AAAHHHHHH!!!!!! Our home has been invaded by the largest carpenter ants that I’ve ever seen. I feel like I’m in a really bad B-rated horror film (something produced by DavidArquette).
About two weeks ago, we started finding them around the kitchen corners. So I went. with lightning speed, to the nearest store & bought out the bug section. NOTHING HAS WORKED!!! Won’t someone help, please? I’ll take kitchen concoction remedies, I’ll go buy more products… Just tell me what will REALLY work!
Our home is two a story & we’re beginning to find them upstairs, too. So, apparently the perimeter spray that Griff put down, only drives them upward, rather than away. UGH! Yes, we put the little ant traps out, too. Guess what? They don’t work! I think I’m just fueling their growth. The box advertised “with two kinds of food that ants eat”. NO JOKE! Along with everything else in my pantry! And vitamin cabinet. And spice rack. And bathroom hair products. ( insert another “UGH!” here)
If anyone out there can hear my pleas for help, & cries of insanity, let me know if you’ve found something magical that will rid my life of these creeps.
Can you find Miss Sophia?
Ok, so this pic was taken a few weeks ago at Andy & Sheila’s house, but I had to add it to my post, since its so darn cute! She was just sitting peacefully with one doll & she kept asking for “more babies”. Even with all of them piled around her, she just sat there, so content. Ahhh, its the little things in life that are so precious.
This is my angel with JD & Matt Underwood. They came over last Tuesday while their mommy went to her weekly doctor check. She’s expecting a little sister for the boys any day now. YEAH! Another girl in the gang to balance the odds. The boys, in typical boy fashion, are fearless & are showing lil Soph “the ropes”. AAAHHH!!!! Its great fun for her to have them around. Their Dad is attending Purdue with Griff & is also in the Navy. We were stationed in Port Hueneme NMCB5) with them 2 years ago, so we’re thrilled that we’re all here together.

Ok, so this pic was taken in our old house in Washington, but I LOVE it! I think if Sophia had it her way, she eat these at every meal. She often asks for “patta” (pasta), though. So the infatuation/obsession with olives is genetically my claim. But the spagettin is ALL Griff.

Ok, so I bought some new “bibs” in hopes of containing Miss Sophia’s eating messes. The way they were packaged & folded led me to believe they weren’t QUITE this big. Think it will cover her??? Oh well… atleast she can grow in to it & use it for arts & crafts; also known as “draw with markers on my legs”, like she did this morning. Good times, good times……

She’s at it already & its only 8 am!
I haven’t even had my first cup o’ joe, yet, & she’s already managed to throw her cereal bowl & fruit bowl on the floor, run poor Penny ragged by ramming her with the stroller, & I think a few more of my hairs have either fallen out or turned grey. And I thought the first year was supposed to be the hardest. Don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t give this up for the world, but WHEW!!!!! Can’t someone invent a pill that has the equivalent of a shot of espresso for days like these? Anyone? Please?

In remberance of Aunt Sandi McGurrin.
Today, my husband’s aunt, and one of my closest friends, is being laid to rest in Pennsylvania. I’m still in shock that she’s actually, really, truely gone. She wasn’t sick, or old, she was happy & full of life & love for life. God’s plan for our lives is sometimes different than ours & sometimes it doesn’t make sense, but I’m at peace knowing that she is with Him in heaven now.
She was an amazing woman, with whom I’ve been blessed to have found a fabulous friend in. She loved to travel & did so often. This is one of my favorite pics of her in one of her favorite places, the Bahamas.
I think when the reality of her being gone has sunk in, its going to hurt so much more. Until, then, I’m going to dwell on all the happiness & laughter she brought to my little world.
